Our Story
Established in 2011, VAMO sources its premium king crab from the pristine Barents Sea waters of Båtsfjord, Norway. Fusing traditional fishing expertise with creative innovation, founders Aleksander and Riikka celebrate
the "art of seafood."
“Today, VAMO embodies a legacy of family, tradition, and culinary excellence, honoring the past while pioneering the future of seafood.”
“VAMO”
Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of northern Norway, on the shores of the Arctic Ocean, VAMO embodies a rich family legacy.
The name "VAMO" itself reflects the cherished bond between the family’s' children, as each letter represents the initials of their related kids. From these shores, the VAGGE, MIRA AURORA, and ILONA boats set sail, carrying with them the bounty of the pristine Barents Sea waters.
Artisanal Fishing
At VAMO, artisanal fishing is not just a method; it's a way of life. Aleksander's hands meticulously repair nets, weaving together generations of knowledge and skill. Tailor-made crab traps, crafted by a skilled elder from a neighbouring village, speak to the tight-knit community and respect for tradition. Continual product development is underway, driven by a commitment to excellence.
Guided by the vessel's owner-captain, each expedition navigates challenging weather conditions, requiring expertise in wind, currents, and the Gulf Stream's influence. It's through this timeless dedication that VAMO honors the ocean and its bounty.
